Rumi's Love for his King, His Creator

Love advanced a conquering host,

Took the world, it claimed the most,

Ask of me my state in love,

Ask not of sorrows, storms above,

The heart of lovers, like a blazing oven,

Burning hot, no end, no cover,

Enter in, and you shall see,

Ask not of flames, but feel the heat in me.

If the bird of your heart longs for this fire,

Singed wings are sweeter, rising higher,

Burned, though they be, they carry a song,

Ask not of feathers, love makes them strong.
