" I walk through the city,
And no one is awake,
Each one is a madder,
For Heaven's sake,
Come to the ruins, my love,
To taste the life so sweet,
Without the beloved, is life ever complete?
I am lost, you are lost,
Who will take us home?
Who will take us home?
I told you so many times,
Drink less, don't limit roam,
I am lost, you are lost.
I left my house, and a drunkard came my way,
In every glance,
He held a hundred gardens bright as day,
Like a ship without an anchor,
He swayed side to side,
A hundred wise men died of envy,
Watching him glide.
I am lost, you are lost,
Who will take us home?
Who will take us home?
I told you so many times,
Drink less, don't limit roam.
I asked where you are from.
He laughed and said, "Oh soul",
Half from the east,
Half from the west,
I am the whole,
Half of me is water and clay,
Half is heart and breath.
Half is sandy shore,
Half is a pearl defying death.
I said, "Be my friend",
For I am your Kin,
He said, "I know no stranger."
Nor the Kin within.
My chest is full of words,
Shall I speak or resign?
In this house of wonder,
I have left myself behind.
Shams of Tabriz,
Why do you hide your face?
You have cast a hundred spells of Love,
Upon this place.
Who will take us home?
Who will take us home?
Who will take us home?"
The soul walks inside the body and finds out that it is not awake. It is consumed by the desires, wishes, and diseases of the heart, such as envy, jealousy, hatred, etc. Then the poet says, destroy the diseases of the heart and come to the ruins. So that you can take the taste of life, which is full of gratitude. And he says that without the beloved, that is your creator, one's life is not complete.
