The Poem Of Rumi: (The poem Rumi believed God Whispered to him)

"Didn't I tell you? Do not go there,

For I am your friend,

in this mirage of fading shadows,

I am life without end,

Even if you run in anger,

For 100,000 years,

You will return to me at last,

I am where the path clears.

Didn't I tell you,

I am the ocean,

And you are the fish,

Don't go to the dry land,

I am the only water you could wish,

Didn't I tell you?

Don't be fooled by the world's design,

I am the painter of your joy,

The artist of the divine.

Didn't I tell you,

Do not fly like a bird to the snare,

Come back to me,

I am your wings,

I am the power of air.

Didn't I tell you?

They will rob you and leave you cold,

But I am the fire,

The warmth of your soul as I foretold,

They put ugly masks upon your face,

To make you forget,

That I am the source of beauty,

The purest love you've met,

Don't ask how the stars are aligned,

Or how the world is spun,

I am the Creator without limits,

I am the Only One.

If you are the lamp of the heart,

You know where to roam,

And if you seek the divine,

Know that I am your home.

Didn't I tell you,

I am your home."

My Interpretation:

Rumi wrote this poem to remind himself not to follow or pursue his selfish desires. The desire for fame, the desire to follow one's ego, the desire for greed, and the desire for material gain, etc. So he is assuming that God is saying to him, "Didn't I tell you? Do not go there". In other words, didn't I tell you not to follow your selfish desires? For you will be robbed by your selfish desires.

Hey, Thanks for commenting on my blog. I really appreciate it.

  1. Hi there, this poem is so profound. I recently started inviting Jeshua in every moment to build a relationship. Ask him questions about the esoteric meaning of his teachings and shine light on personal situations. I receive something beyond ‘Don’t follow your desires’ rather ‘enjoy your desires and drop the attachment. Turn back to me over and over; your choices become more aligned to your specific desires. Wait a little longer each time. Invite the full spectrum of your journey. Let Me hold your hand, rest in My arms. Stay within the pure space of your heart more and more. Not only when you’re alone. Invite Me next to you in every relationship or creative endeavor or material desire. We will finetune your design together’
Anyway, thanks for sharing the poem. I received a magnificent creation of music with it. I will copy the link beneath.
